What is Academy Dance?
Academy Dance is Inspire’s core dance program — structured, high-quality training open to every dancer, with no audition required. It’s where confidence, friendships, and real technique grow together, class after class.
If you’ve been searching for recreational dance classes in Charlotte, you’ve found them — Academy Dance is open to all, with no experience required. We just hold it to a higher standard.
Every dancer’s first step
Too little for the Academy? Not too little to dance. Creative Movement is the joyful jumping-off point for our youngest dancers, ages 2–5 — an introduction to music, rhythm, and making friends, where confidence and a lifelong love of dance begin.

We build better humans.
Dance is our craft, but character is our mission. In every class, your child builds skills that outlast any routine — and we measure success by who they become, on and off the stage.

Standing tall on stage becomes standing tall in life.
Discipline
Showing up, working hard, and seeing it pay off.

A team of friends who cheer each other on.
Character

The stage is yours
Perform all year long
Performance is where confidence is made — and Academy dancers don't wait until spring to shine.

Tuition
Tuition is tiered by your dancer's total weekly class time — so the more they dance, the more they save.
Rates are per dancer, across all classes. hourly rate drops the more your child dances.
Take more, save more. Because tuition is tiered by your dancer’s total weekly class time, every class you add — Academy, Acro, Ballroom, and more — moves them into a lower hourly rate.
Life at Inspire
Come see the joy
“Megan Zugelder May was the best dance teacher/coach to my three girls! We were so fortunate and lucky to have Megan guide and mentor them. She was all in from start to finish, every year she taught them. She pulled out the unique skills she saw in them and knew exactly how to make them better dancers and they proudly shined on and off of the stage. Megan pours her heart and soul into everything she does and we are grateful for the impact that she has made in our daughter’s lives. She has guided my girls through valuable life experiences, as well as taught them how to dance with confidence and style, all while having fun. I have witnessed the traits that she modeled become apart of who they are as adults today.

Questions?
Good to know
-
Absolutely. August 31 is when the season begins, but new dancers are welcome throughout the year. Most Academy dance classes have rolling enrollment; a few programs — like our Musical Theater production and Ballroom cohorts — have specific start windows. Take the Find My Class quiz and we'll show you the best time for your child to start. (Popular classes do fill, so it's worth starting sooner than later.)
-
None at all. We welcome brand-new dancers at every age — that's exactly what our beginner Academy classes are for.
-
Essentially, yes — Academy Dance is what many studios call recreational dance: open to everyone, no audition, learn at your own pace. We dropped the word "recreational" because it undersells what happens here — real, structured training from degree-holding, nationally ranked instructors — but if that's the class you've been looking for, you've found it.
-
Comfortable clothes they can move in. We'll take care of the rest — just bring a smile.
