What Sets Us Apart
Real stages. Real competition.
From our own showcases to community stages and national competitions, Inspire dancers get opportunities most studios can't offer.
Two brand-new Musical Theater productions — full stagings with sets, costumes, choreography, and a live audience.
Explore Musical Theater →Showcases & Recital
Dancers light up our mid-season Winter Showcase and a full year-end recital production.
Out in the community
Performing for real crowds beyond the studio — from the Southern Christmas Show to the court at a Charlotte Hornets game.
Ballroom, as far as you want to take it
Competing is entirely optional. From just learning a new lifelong skill, to performances, to competition. Dancers who choose to can compete locally and across the country — last season took them to Atlanta, Raleigh, New York City, and Fort Lauderdale.
A season that ends at nationals
Our competition team dances 3–4 regional competitions a season — all within about two hours of the studio — then closes the year at the national championship. Last season that was Panama City Beach, Florida.

The Inspire Competition Team
There’s always room to dream bigger
Many dancers grow for years in the Academy — and that’s wonderful. But for those who catch the competitive spark, our award-winning Competition Team is there when they’re ready: extra training, travel, and the thrill of the competition floor. It’s optional and audition-based — but once a dancer is in, their teammates are counting on them. That accountability is one of the biggest things they learn here.
In their words
Loved by Charlotte families
Inspire Performing Arts Company is a phenomenal dance company with the best coaches around. They strive to make better humans not just dancers. The coaches instill the importance of integrity, hard work, dedication, athleticism and kindness. My children are better people today than yesterday due to the mentorship they give. We have achieved goals my girls would have never thought possible, including a World Dance final five appearance in their rookie season to a National Championship. My daughter has danced at many places over her 8 years of dancing and we found a home and family in Inspire Performing Arts Company and we could not imagine ourselves anywhere else. We truly feel God put us in the right place and time to find coaches who could encourage and bring out the God given talents my girls were given. The future is bright at Inspire.
I wish I could put into words what a blessing it has been for my children to dance with the Inspire Performing Arts Company. My son has been dancing with Megan Zugelder May and Lisa Lewis for five years. To see him start out his dance career as a first grader and see how much he has blossomed (now as a fifth grader) is indescribable. His coaches put their heart and soul into not only teaching these kids dance, but also teaching them how to be loving and kind human beings. They lead our children with grace and shower them with inspiration. We have had such an amazing experience with this company; that our daughter is now also dancing with Inspire. She has quickly learned the importance of hard work and determination as well as what it’s like to be a team. To see them both shine on stage and see their confidence grow daily is truly the most amazing feeling you can have as a parent. This dance company is more than just dance: it is a family. Our children are truly blessed to be able to dance for such amazing coaches and to have teammates that share the same kindness and integrity that we are instilling in our children. We are forever grateful for this team.
Megan Zugelder May was the best dance teacher/coach to my three girls! We were so fortunate and lucky to have Megan guide and mentor them. She was all in from start to finish, every year she taught them. She pulled out the unique skills she saw in them and knew exactly how to make them better dancers and they proudly shined on and off of the stage. Megan pours her heart and soul into everything she does and we are grateful for the impact that she has made in our daughter’s lives. She has guided my girls through valuable life experiences, as well as taught them how to dance with confidence and style, all while having fun. I have witnessed the traits that she modeled become apart of who they are as adults today.

Good to know
-
Absolutely. August 31 is when the season begins, but new dancers are welcome throughout the year. Most Academy dance classes have rolling enrollment; a few programs — like our Musical Theater production and Ballroom cohorts — have specific start windows. Take the Find My Class quiz and we'll show you the best time for your child to start. (Popular classes do fill, so it's worth starting sooner than later.)
-
None at all. We welcome brand-new dancers at every age — that's exactly what our beginner Academy classes are for.
-
That's what Find My Class is for. Answer a few quick questions and we'll recommend the best fit — or come try a free class and see for yourself.

Monthly tuition starts at $65 and is tiered by your dancer's total weekly class time across every class they take — and the more hours they dance, the less each hour costs. There's also a registration fee of $50 per dancer ($75 per family). Every tier and the full weekly schedule are published on our Schedule & Tuition page.
